Artefill Product Information
Artefill is a long-lasting, dermal filler that provides patients with the natural, enduring results they desire. The formulation of Artefill has been optimized to provide safe and effective tissue augmentation for the correction of nasolabial folds.
Artefill is comprised of 80% Artefill Purified Bovine Collagen and 20% Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) Microspheres, with 0.3% lidocaine for patient comfort.
The collagen in Artefill provides immediate wrinkle correction and patients don’t have to wait for their natural looking results. As the collagen is gradually absorbed by the body over time, the PMMA microspheres provide a support matrix for enduring wrinkle correction by working together with the patient’s own collagen
About Artefill Purified Bovine Collagen
The bovine collagen gel used in Artefill is sourced from a herd in the United States that is controlled, bred, and monitored according to FDA, ISO and USDA guidelines. The collagen is highly purified and is processed to reduce potential contributors to immunogenicity.
Artefill Purified Bovine Collagen:
- Is not cross-linked
- Has the telopeptides removed
- Is partially denatured
About PMMA
Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) is one of the most widely used biocompatible synthetic implants used in the human body with a proven safety record in over 60 years of clinical use.
The microspheres are smooth and their size is tightly controlled during manufacturing to be within 30 to 50 microns in diameter. It is important that the microspheres be large enough to avoid phagocytosis by macrophages and prevent migration away from the injection site.
